2023 Disney LEGO Releases and Rumours
NEW LEGO SETS FROM BRICKHEADZ, MOANA AND MORE RELEASED FOR 2023, WITH MORE DISNEY ANNIVERSARY SETS ON THE WAY
January has seen a raft of new LEGO Disney sets released, starting the new year in a magical way for the well-established LEGO theme partnership.
A new BrickHeadz set has also been announced for a 1st February release, with four iconic Disney characters included celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary. There are also rumours of future Disney100 celebration sets, from a new castle to a brick-built recreation of the company’s founder, Walt Disney.
It is incredible to think that Disney is already 100 years old. Early Disney film classics such as 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, 1940’s Pinocchio and 1941’s Dumbo are still enjoyed to this day, fitting in timelessly alongside modern Disney franchises, such as film, cartoon and TV show offerings from Avatar, Star Wars and Marvel.
Disney has been working alongside LEGO since 1999 when a range of Winnie the Pooh Duplo sets were released. Over the years, countless other models have hit the shelf, including several incarnations of the famous Disney Castle from the Walt Disney World resorts.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the new and potential sets revealed so far for this year…
LEGO Disney – Disney 100th Celebration LEGO BrickHeadz
This BrickHeadz offering brings together four iconic characters from Disney history, including Walt Disney’s first character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and their first animated character, Mickey Mouse. The other figures are Snow White, the leading star of Disney’s first film, and Tinker Bell, the first Disneyland mascot.
The new set is available from 1st February, priced at $39.99
LEGO Disney – Moana’s Catamaran 43210
This is our favourite of the new sets, recreating Moana’s wayfinding boat in colourful LEGO brick detail. We particularly like the sail, decorated with stories of the Motunui people. The model would look great displayed on a desk, bookshelf or even a kitchen worktop.
You can grab the set for $34.99.
LEGO Disney – Aurora’s Castle 43211
LEGO Minifigures of Aurora, Prince Phillip, and Maleficent stand beside the visual backdrop of the enchanting Sleeping Beauty castle.
Available now for $44.99.
LEGO Disney – Rapunzel’s Music Box 43214
This small but fun addition to your LEGO Disney collection can be wound up to show Rapunzel spinning around – it also looks excellent decorating a desk or shelf.
You can purchase this set for just $9.99.
LEGO Disney – Princesses on a Magical Journey 43216
Disney’s Cinderella, Jasmine and Rapunzel travel by magic flying carpet, hot-air balloon and royal carriage in this colourful creative brick set with plenty of fun details to spot.
Available for $64.99
Disney 100th Anniversary LEGO Set Rumours
Rumours swirling around the Disney universe say several more sets are coming this year.
Instagram user Lego_minecraft_goat claims a new adult set paying homage to the early Disney animation style will be realised soon. Check out the box below – we love the look of Steamboat Willie and the Minnie and Mickey Mouse figures! With the black and white style, this looks like a perfect LEGO set for displaying in style for Disney fans.
According to promobricks, we could also see a new scaled-down Disney Castle set planned under set number 43225. This would be roughly half the size of the last model, due to retire soon.
