Amazing Fan-Built LEGO MOCs – Part Three

We’ve spent a lot of time talking about official LEGO Christmas/winter sets these last few weeks, but now it’s time to take a look at what the fans have to offer.

LEGO MOCs (my own creations) are the heart and soul of the brick-built world, taking us back to our childhoods when we were presented with a box of jumbled parts, bricks and accessories that would eventually become the starships, cars, buildings and characters lurking in our imaginations.

These same now-grown-up kids are the AFOLs of today, bringing us wonderful creations on a regular basis. MOCs offer a chance to expand beyond the restraints of official models, taking on any saga or story conceivable.

To get in the festive, seasonal spirit, we’re looking at a few of our favourite Christmassy LEGO fan-built MOCs we found online. Don’t forget to comment or send us your favourites on social media!

And if you’re looking for the best transparent display cases for your own MOCs, head over to our custom displays by size page, where you’ll find a great selection of displays to suit large or small models.

Christmas At Brick Square

Christmas At Brick Square

By Bricked1980

This jaw-dropping, modular-style Christmas post office build surfaced online in 2018 and remains a timeless example of the skill and care that goes into creating a worthy custom build. Our favourite element has to be the old-world steam traction engine, which lends the scene the nostalgic, vintage feel so closely associated with Christmas. If the traction engine wasn’t enough, this set also includes a classic postal delivery van, plenty of minifigures to enrich the scene, a Christmas tree, and festive greenery decorating the building exteriors.

You can read the story of the LEGO scene over at Eurobricks – a cute tale of Santa’s sleigh breaking down, forcing him to use the steam engine to deliver the all-important gifts on Christmas Eve.

Winter Wonderland – Winter Village Architecture

If you’re a fan of microscale builds, this one’s for you. Evoking the atmosphere of idyllic European Christmas markets and amusement parks, this winter wonderland fair contains everything you would expect to see in exquisite detail. The scene feels very much like Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, with a carousel, mountain section, seasonal train, and, of course, a giant Christmas tree and decorations.

Winter Village Church

Here’s something more subtle but with a fine, picturesque quality. This snow-clad church looks like the kind of place we’d like to gather late on Christmas Eve for midnight mass and carolling. The fir trees placed around the sides and the wreath hanging over the door add the necessary Christmas touches, and the old-fashioned lampposts complete the scene.

Christmas Bundle

One for LEGO BrickHeadz fans. You can make almost endless character creations using the elements from this funky range, but special mention goes to this set of four iconic festive figures, including Father Christmas, Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Mickey Mouse, and a snowman. Some exceptionally creative elements have gone into creating the reindeer antlers and Santa’s hat, displaying an impressive amount of texture and definition.

Down The Chimney

This delightful diorama shows Santa heading down the chimney as he makes his Christmas deliveries to a beautiful stone house perched on a rock beside a river. The elements on the waterfall are especially pretty, including the rich blue pool below. The crooked old tree completes this charming display, along with the decorations on the handrail leading up to the house. The building exterior is also enhanced with several wreaths and fallen snow pieces.
