Can We Use Lightspeed To Jump To May?
THE MONTH OF MAY WILL BE A MENACE TO OUR WALLET
So, as most people probably are aware, unless they’ve been camping out in Tatooine with the Tuskens, there have been a couple of LEGO Star Wars leaks recently. First and foremost is the LEGO Mos Espa Podrace Diorama (75380) coming in at 718 pieces, the price is $79.99 and is due to be released in time for the May 4th celebrations, but available from May 1st 2024 for LEGO Insiders.
Mos Espa Podrace Diorama 75380
$79.99
Shipping from 1st May 2024.
This is a double-anniversary set as it marks 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars theme and 25 years since the release of Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. The 718 piece brick count includes a 25th anniversary brick and a tile with an iconic quote from the legend that is Qui-Gon Jinn - "Remember, concentrate on the moment. Feel. Don't think. Use your instincts.". Whilst we can only speculate as to how much young Anakin took this first piece of sagely Qui-Gon advice on board, we can safely say that this diorama looks awesome.
The build itself depicts the moment when Anakin is fighting for his freedom as he and Sebulba are racing through Arch Canyon. No minifigures are included with this set but as a diorama with micro build vehicles, it doesn’t need any. This LEGO 75380 set is built on the now classic LEGO Star Wars black base and seems to be a similar size and aesthetic to 75329 LEGO Star Wars Death Star Trench Run.
Droideka 75381
$64.99
Shipping from 1st May 2024.
The next LEGO Star Wars May announcement is focussed on the invasion of Naboo in both The Phantom Menace and Clone Wars. This is an epic-looking droid, which you can fully imagine wreaking havoc across your LEGO Star Wars displays. However, the smaller buildable Droideka resembles a distressed woodlouse, and in fact, the ones in the 2002 Jedi Defense I set are probably a closer fit. Do not despair though, as if you wish to build yourself one of these old chaps, just check out the building instructions on the LEGO website.
Included in the set are 583 pieces, with the obvious LEGO Star Wars 25th Anniversary brick and the information tile that is printed with a whole host of knowledge. Again, no LEGO Minifigures to speak of but the buildable mini Droideka is offered instead.
The Phantom Menace 40676
$54.99
Shipping from 1st May 2024
We are so excited about the LEGO 40676 The Phantom Menace BrickHeadz collection; six amazing Star Wars characters, built with 732 pieces. The price tag is extremely reasonable as well, as the usual price for a single BrickHeadz is $10. Also, all of these LEGO Brickheadz come with baseplate and authentic accessories, albeit lightsabers or hammers!
So, which Phantom Menace characters do we have in the box?
- Anakin Skywalker
- Captain Panaka
- Darth Maul
- Jar Jar Binks (love him or hate him, he’s here in brick form)
- Queen Amidala
- Qui-Gon Jinn
Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator 75383
$69.99
Shipping from 1st May 2024.
The LEGO Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator set includes another 25th Anniversary figure and a mini build of the Bloodfin speeder from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. For £59.99 we get 640 pieces and four LEGO Minifigures in total; Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, Saw Gerrera and a young Anakin. Saw Gerrera is sporting a dashing green ensemble and this minifigure comes with its own display stand. Darth Maul and Qui-Gon are equipped with lightsabers and Qui-Gon Jinn is ready for battle in the Jedi cloth tunic.
The LEGO Sith Infiltrator has blasters that shoot green lasers and three DRK-1 droids that can be released from the front compartment of the ship. Another nice touch is that the wings have hinges to allow for folding up/opening out.
