LEGO Blacktron was one of the first LEGO Space subthemes that was released in 1987 alongside Futuron. Easily recognisable by their black, yellow and red colour scheme, LEGO Blacktron were considered the “baddies” of LEGO Space. Now they’re back for 2025.

RETURN OF THE RENEGADE

The LEGO Icons 10355 Blacktron Renegade set is a re-release of 1987’s LEGO 6954 Blacktron Renegade. As LEGO 6954 was only released in North America, many missed the joy of the Renegade. Thirty-eight years later, we AFOLs worldwide can fill that LEGO Blacktron Renegade-shaped hole in our LEGO Space displays.

WHEN IS LEGO ICONS 10355 BLACKTRON RENEGADE BEING RELEASED?

LEGO ICONS 10355 Blacktron Renegade will be available from the LEGO website from the 4^{th of} January 2025. LEGO Insiders can join the mission early as they can order from the 1^{st of} January.

LEGO ICONS 10355 is priced at $99.99 (a little more than the 1987 price tag!), earning you 650 Insider Points.

ARE THERE ANY LEGO MINIFIGURES INCLUDED WITH THE LEGO 10355 BLACKTRON RENEGADE?

Three LEGO Blacktron Minifigures are included with LEGO 10355 and a buildable droid.

WHAT IS THE PIECE COUNT FOR LEGO ICONS 10355 BLACKTRON RENEGADE?

The LEGO Icons 10355 Blacktron Renegade model boasts an impressive 1,151 pieces, a significant increase from the original LEGO 6954, which had only 302 pieces.

NOSTALGIA IN A BOX

This latest 2025 LEGO 10355 Blacktron Renegade has retained the original modular design but includes several new features:

• Two engine energy canisters
• Two wing-mounted space speeders
• Planet rover drop pod
• Landing gear

Not only are there new features, but LEGO 10355 has over 800 more pieces than its predecessor. These extra pieces mean that the upscaled Renegade now measures 47cm x 30cm x 9cm in comparison to LEGO 6954, which measured 31.5cm x 29cm x 5.5cm.

LEGO 10355 includes three LEGO Blacktron Minifigures (one more than the 1987 release) and a buildable droid. LEGO has stayed true to the original minifigure design with the simplistic black and white suits. We appreciate that they have also retained the original headprints.

RETRO REBUILD

LEGO 6954 Blacktron Renegade could be rebuilt into the Alienator (named Strider in the US), and LEGO 10355 has kept this option, too. The building instructions are not included in the instruction manual but can be accessed via the 3D Builder app.

The new Blacktron Renegade is packaged in separate bags to make a perfect nostalgic build to enjoy with loved ones.
