iDisplayit LEGO Haul – February 2024

If we’re honest, our finances have only just recovered from Christmas, but we couldn’t resist splashing out on some of the most exciting recent LEGO releases – and what a haul it is!

This month’s selection took us from the streets of London to the depths of space and back down to earth again with a kingly bird of nature, a memento tree and a romantic free gift in time for Valentine’s Day.

While we take some time to build our awesome new range, let’s take a closer look at each set and where you can register for the best upcoming display cases to exhibit them in.

IDEAS Tales of the Space Age – 21340

IDEAS Tales of the Space Age – 21340

$49.99 – buy it at LEGO online.

For anyone who calls themselves a fan of vintage sci-fi or the history of space travel, this exceptionally stylish set of 3D brick postcards provides the perfect backdrop for enhancing a home interior or even your work desk or shop front. We expect a few comic bookstores or other geeky locales to invest in this versatile display model, and we’re planning to showcase it on one of our many office shelves.

This intriguing set was a wonderfully imagined Ideas entry that was eventually chosen for production by LEGO. The art pieces are all inspired by classic vintage-style sci-fi films, books and posters, combining a stunning range of colours and extra-terrestrial sunsets.

It’s hard to pick out our favourite of the four scenes, however we love the shuttle blasting through space, which uses a clever selection of circular elements to create white jet exhaust billowing on the ground, contrasting spiritedly with the dark, starry sky and purple light.

Keep an eye on the iDisplayit coming soon page for our display case, arriving in the not-too-distant future.

ICONS Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter – 10327

ICONS Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter – 10327

$164.99 – buy it at LEGO online.

2021’s Dune: Part One was a masterclass in high-brow science fiction filmmaking, transporting viewers to the scorched, visceral, spiritual sands of the desert planet Arrakis and a conflict between noble houses, ancient tribes and a ruling space empire. Billed as “Star Wars for adults”, the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic tale received near-universal praise for its cinematography, conceptual design, soundtrack, and casting.

As big fans of the movie, and with Dune: Part Two on the near horizon, we couldn’t wait to snap up this detailed LEGO replica of the insect-like ornithopter used to fly over the dangerous deserts. If we’re honest, we also wanted to get hold of the floating Baron Harkonnen, which must be a contender for the tallest LEGO Minifigure ever. The set also comes with Paul Atreides, Lady Jessica, Gurney Halleck, Chani, Leto Atreides, Liet Kynes and Duncan Idaho, giving us a perfect Dune character collection, which we’ll be exhibiting in one of our wall-mounted or tabletop acrylic display cases for LEGO Minifigures.

Register your interest to be informed when our Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter Display Case for LEGO 10327 becomes available so you can keep your model dust-free wherever you place it.

IDEAS Red London Telephone Box – 21347

IDEAS Red London Telephone Box – 21347

$114.99 – buy it at LEGO online.

An iconic 20th-century London landmark, the red BT telephone box has become a British symbol thanks to its frequency on street corners and appearance in movies, music videos and literature. We’ve got a few spots in mind for where we want to display this accurately detailed model, and we think this is a perfect gift choice for any LEGO enthusiasts with a spare windowsill or room on their bookshelf. The LEGO set ultimately remains faithful to the original IDEAS entry from Bricked1980, with a few choice additions.

Read our full preview of the LEGO Telephone Box here, and don’t forget to keep an eye on our coming soon page for information on our upcoming acrylic presentation box.

IDEAS Family Tree – 21346

IDEAS Family Tree – 21346

$79.99 – buy it at LEGO online.

We love LEGO sets that try to do something different, either with an interactive element or a way of transforming a design beyond a lone display model. This nostalgic memento tree gives families a 3D canvas for placing photographs, ticket stubs and other keepsakes so multiple generations can enjoy a family tradition together.

We’re regularly taking vintage snaps on our Polaroid camera, so it won’t be long before we’re arguing about which ones are worthy of a place on the “iDisplayit tree”!

The new set is based on the grand-prize-winning entry, ‘Your Family Tree’. Check out our preview of the new model here, and keep watch on the coming soon page for our upcoming display case release.

ICONS Kingfisher Bird – 10331

ICONS Kingfisher Bird – 10331

$49.99 – buy it at LEGO online.

Our LEGO haul includes a lot of ICONS sets, and there’s nothing more iconic in the birdwatching world than a majestic kingfisher, usually seen stalking deep forests, calm ponds and rivers for fish in Africa, Asia, Oceania and Europe.

This beautiful nature-inspired model includes impressive wing feathers, water-effect elements on the base, and fun details such as the fish in the bird’s beak. Since writing about the new model in our preview article, this set has been high on our purchase list as we knew it would make a worthy addition to the rest of our botanical and fauna collection.

Keep an eye on the coming soon page for our bespoke display box for this regal brick-built creature.

Love Gift Box gift-with-purchase – 40679
