LEGO Casts A 'Wicked' Spell With Four New Movie Sets
PINK CLICKS GOOD WITH GREEN
WICKED! The time has finally arrived, after the cryptic “Wonder if LEGO bricks can defy gravity” tweet in February 2024, with a green heart and big eyes emojis (a reference to the song Defying Gravity from the hit musical Wicked).
An official announcement of the upcoming partnership between LEGO and Wicked was released in May 2024. We now have actual images of the four sets due to release in October 2024, just ahead of the first part of the movie in November 2024. The LEGO Wicked quartet is now available to preorder from the official LEGO website and is due to ship on October 1st, 2024.

- Elphaba
- Glinda
- Nessarose (Elphaba’s sister)
Glinda can have accessories added to her hair, while Nessarose comes with a wheelchair (just like in the hit musical). The wheelchair also has stickers so that it can be customized.

LEGO 75682 focuses on the song “Defying Gravity” from the Musical, and the included QR code allows you to play the tune when scanned and unlocks exclusive LEGO Wicked content.
The 558 pieces enable us to build the two unlikely friends. They have articulated arms and heads so they can be made to dance along to the music. The buildable figures of Glinda and Elphaba can be accessorised with the following:
- Broom
- Purse
- Crown
- Potion bottle
- Wand
Glinda and Elphaba can stand on their own bases in front of a beautiful window that shows the city of Oz sprawling in the distance.
LEGO 75683 Glinda & Elphaba's Dormitory
$69.99
740 pieces
455 Insider Points
This 740-piece playset resembles a buildable pink trunk adorned with Glinda’s initials. On the top stand, there is Elphaba’s green potion bottle, a functional pink pot and Glinda’s pink rose. The trunk can even be locked with the included key.
When the trunk is opened, it displays the girls’ bedroom at the Shiz University. LEGO 75683 allows you to recreate the iconic moment when Glinda vows to make Elphaba popular. As with LEGO 75682, this set also includes a QR code, this time you can listen to the song “Popular”. As the song plays, the LEGO Mini-dolls can be posed on the spinning platform to look like they are dancing to the music.
There are two LEGO Mini dolls included:
- Elphaba
- Glinda
The figures are dressed in their pyjamas, just like in the musical, but they are also provided with clothes for the day. Both girls have wands; Elphaba has her witch hat, and Glinda has a flower for her hair.

OZ INSIGHTS
For those who aren’t aware, Wicked is based on a novel written by Gregory Maguire in 1995, “Wicked: The Life and Times of The Wicked Witch Of The West.” This novel creates a parallel universe to that created by L. Frank Baum in 1900 in “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” which became the iconic movie we all know in 1939.
The story of Wicked focuses on the lives of two girls, Glinda and Elphaba and their meeting with the Wonderful Wizard. Both girls chase different things: Glinda wants popularity but is seduced by power, and Elphaba wishes to remain true to herself and those close to her. Their crazy adventures in Oz see them trying to fulfil their destinies as Glinda the Good and The Wicked Witch of the West.
Nessarose is Elphaba’s younger sister who suffered difficulties at birth and was born without arms in the novel; however, in the musical, her disability is that she cannot walk and uses a wheelchair. This is the route that LEGO have taken with this character too. As the story progresses, Elphaba uses a spell so that Nessarose may walk, which then causes a series of complications in their lives.
The musical premiered in San Francisco on the 28th of May 2003 and began its first US tour in 2006. 2017 saw the first UK and Ireland tour of the popular musical.
LEGO first dabbled with The Wizard of Oz in September 2015 when they released the LEGO 71221 Wizard of Oz Fun Pack. This pack consisted of a buildable flying monkey and a Wicked Witch of the West LEGO minifigure.
Moving forward to 2019, The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigure Series (71023) was released, and this included:
- Dorothy & Toto (71023-16)
- Scarecrow (71023-18)
- The Cowardly Lion (71023-17)
- Tinman/Tin Woodsman (71023-19)
The Cowardly Lion came with a badge of courage as his accessory. All the Oz characters' accessories were the gifts that the Wizard bestowed upon them. The lion has double-face printing, timid and happy, and fur details printed on his torso and legs. An excellent detail is the sharp claws printed on his feet.
The Tinman's axe and heart clock accompany him. The printed details on this figure are excellent. He had rivets printed on his torso and the side of his legs, and there are also little signs of wear. His hat is a funnel with a handle.
Toto is adorable. This was the first time this dog mould was created in this grey shade. Dorothy has her iconic red slippers, and her skirt is a fabric wrap-around piece. She also has a double face print (happy and worried), topped off nicely with a moulded braided hair piece.
The Scarecrow is adorable. His patchy shirt is held together with printed rope ties, which continue onto the back of the torso piece. The leg piece has printed details of patches with stitches at the edges, and his belt is printed under the low-hanging rope ends. He only has one face print, but it’s got some lovely detailing to create a straw-like aesthetic. The Scarecrow is topped off with a large, floppy-looking hat.
Will you be getting any of the LEGO Wicked sets? Do you own the LEGO Wizard of Oz Minifigures from the CMF series? We would love to see your collections.
