LEGO Round-Up – Spider-Man Art Set and Technic Crawler Crane

HONOUR NEW YORK’S LEGENDARY SUPERHERO AND COLLECT A GIANT CRANE

LEGO Round-Up

Hot off the press – two more stunning LEGO sets have been unveiled this week from the world of LEGO Art and LEGO Technic.

First to be revealed is The Amazing Spider-Man 31209, a wall-mounted mosaic-style LEGO art portrait with fun 3D effects to push the concept beyond the standard 2D design of most similar sets. AFOLs can also look forward to the long-anticipated release of the Liebherr LR 13000, a fully-operational LEGO Technic giant crane crawler, thanks to a premature reveal on a French retailer’s website.

Both sets are due for release on 1st August 2023. Let’s take a closer look at the new models…

£169.99

Straight off the bat, this newly-revealed LEGO Art set hits you like a webshot to the face. Initial reactions online from fans of the famous NYC web-slinger have been extremely positive, with many speculating that the new comic-book art piece is the best LEGO Art set yet.

The striking green backdrop replicates the ‘Ben-Day-dot printing technique’, first used to add colour to early comic prints using small coloured dots to create shading and colour in images. Fifteen tiny spiders are also included to represent the fifteenth comic-book issue of Amazing Fantasy from 1962, in which Spider-Man first appeared.

Beyond the background, we see the Amazing Spider-Man (Peter Parker) appearing to crawl out of the frame thanks to the dimensional art illusion created by the 3D head and hands. These new illusion elements help the set stand out from other LEGO Art models, and we would be excited to see the technique used on future releases.

This bold art frame is a perfect addition to any room at home, especially for Spider-Man and Marvel fanatics – we expect the set to prove popular once it hits release in August.

LEGO Technic Liebherr LR 13000 – 42146

This LEGO Technic model was originally rumoured for release last summer before being delayed to January. Now, the set appears to be hitting shelves on 1st August.

This giant LEGO industrial crane replica is set to be one of the largest and perhaps the most expensive LEGO Technic models to date. Details remain scarce; however, images indicate it will likely be compatible with CONTROL+ functions and take up a substantial amount of space when on display.
