LEGO Round-Up – Star Wars Rebels, Walt Disney & Wolverine

INTRODUCING LEGO HOMAGES TO THE DISNEY FOUNDER, MARVEL AND STAR WARS

LEGO Round-Up

It’s been an exciting start to the week, with three new LEGO sets revealed for release within the next few months.

Fans of this year’s Disney100 models will soon have another 100th-anniversary release to add to their collections, in the form of a brick-built vintage film camera to honour a history of animated films and the company’s founder, Walt Disney. Marvel and Star Wars – both modern additions to the Disney catalogue – will also be represented by a bust-style build of Wolverine’s claws and the Ghost & Phantom II starship from Star Wars Rebels.

Let’s take a closer look at the new sets…

Walt Disney Tribute Camera – 43230

$99.99

This eye-catching vintage-style camera set for AFOLs will be hitting shelves on 1st September 2023 and can currently be pre-ordered online.

The detailed movie production prop contains 811 bricks and includes a hinged back panel, which opens to reveal a Walt Disney minifigure hard at work in the studio with a fairytale storybook to hand. A stylish film strip also hangs off the model, showing iconic scenes and moments from twenty Disney classics, including The Lion King, Beauty & The Beast, and The Little Mermaid.

The collectable also comes with a Disney clapperboard, which can be used to exhibit the Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Walt Disney minifigures included in the set, along with LEGO miniature animal characters of Bambi and Dumbo. A glance inside the multiplane camera attached to the clapperboard will also reveal shots from Disney’s 1937 Silly Symphonies animated short, The Old Mill.

As with other LEGO models designed to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary, this set offers something different from the usual colourful cartoon creations based on Disney movies. The Walt Disney Tribute Camera is a stylish display build that would look perfect exhibited alongside vintage film posters or similar home décor additions to create a unique talking point for family and friends.

Wolverine’s Adamantium Claws – 76250

$69.99

This model-building project will thrill fans of Marvel Animation Studio’s classic 90s cartoon X-Men: The Animated Series, which currently streams on Disney+. This bust-style display is being released in anticipation of this year’s X-Men ’97 cartoon series, which will revive the classic show series in the same animated style.

The model displays Wolverine’s blue clawed glove, complete with three extendable claws formed from the superhero’s adamantium skeleton. This immersive LEGO set offers a smart tribute to the Marvel Universe for hard-core collectors and fans, with a unique retro-inspired yet contemporary design.

The X-Men movies were originally made by Marvel. In 1990, Marvel sold the rights to the X-Men characters to 20th Century Fox, who were in turn purchased by Disney along with Marvel in more recent years. For this reason, all X-Men related TV shows and films can be found on the Disney+ app under one brand.

The set is available for pre-order and will be released on 1st August 2023.

Ghost & Phantom II – 75357

$159.99

Fans of the popular Star Wars Rebels animated series won’t want to miss this LEGO release, which clocks in at 1,394 pieces. The Ghost was a legendary starship used by the Twi’lek rebellion operative Hera Syndulla and her rebel cell during the war against the Galactic Empire. The ship featured in numerous battles, skirmishes and stealth missions, featuring in most of the show’s episodes.

This updated LEGO replica of the ship is based on the craft’s appearance in the upcoming live-action Star Wars Ahsoka TV show, though the design remains similar. The spherical cockpit has room for two minifigures to be displayed, and the ship’s armour is complemented by subtle yet smart additions such as the green, gold and red LEGO elements. The small Phantom II shuttle is also included, connecting to the Ghost in the same way as the show.

Minifigures include General Hera Syndulla, Lt. Beyta, Jacen Syndulla, First Officer Hawkins, and a Chopper (C1-10P) LEGO droid.

Pre-order the new set today, for release on 1st September 2023.
