LEGO Unboxing – Flower Store 40680

Our latest free gift from LEGO is Flower Store 40680, a vibrant shopfront and interior for a floral business. The new GWP is the first in a new series of four model LEGO stores, all built in a microscale style in the vein of the Houses of the World collection, the last of which released in late 2023.

These modular-style brick building facades are perfect for displaying together in a row, and with the announcement of the new shopfronts bringing the total to eight models, it is a collection worth considering to fill up your spare shelf or desk space. The limited availability of each set also makes them a good investment for the future.

We spent an hour and a half building this model, with most of the time spent assembling fiddly (yet fun!) sections, including the flowers and interior details – check out how we got on and our final rating below.

Flower Store 40680 – The Build

The bulk of this build involves tiny, delicate elements such as the colourful flower studs, greenery, and interior furniture. The set also includes plenty of sticker decals for adding finishing touches. If you prefer to construct large models with big elements, this gift with purchase model may not be for you. But if you relish the challenge of handling tiny bricks and decals, you’ll love it.

After assembling a fairly simple, compact base, the shop’s ground floor comes together with a combination of plate and individual stud elements.

One of the most satisfying parts of this build is applying the colourful printed decal stickers, which truly bring the store to life. The attention to detail on the building’s exterior is impressive, with multiple-coloured flowers, green plants and hanging leaves.

With the ground floor finished, it was on to the separate second floor, which varies the style with light stone brick and summery yellow and white awnings. Inside, we assemble a cosy apartment for the florist to live in, complete with a painting of – you guessed it – flowers!

The build concludes with a stunning dark and light grey tiled roof comprising 24 pieces and a brown chimney for the final touch. With the second floor completed, it was time to attach it to the lower section and admire the finished model alongside two of our Houses of the World sets…

Final Thoughts

Flower Store 40680 is a build that requires patience and care, with a myriad of small bricks and elements that come together to form one of the most vibrant and colourful models we’ve seen. The main feature of the set is the exterior, which delivers on all fronts with a balance of brickwork, multicoloured awnings, small flowers, large hanging greenery, a delightful lamppost, and a florist shop sign above the door.

As a minor criticism, the build did feel repetitive at times, and we found ourselves yearning to complete it near the end (to put it another way, we hope you relish putting together individual flower studs over and over again). That said, considering the size of this LEGO GWP add-on, it is understandable that there would not be as much variance compared to a large-scale release.

All aspects considered, the flower store 40680 gift with purchase is a worthy purchase add-on and a delightful opener for the new range of shopfronts.
