More LEGO Disney Sets on The Way

LEGO collectors might be forgiven for struggling to keep up with the number of new LEGO Disney sets coming out this year. It has only been a few weeks since we announced the June 2023 arrival of the 100 Years of Disney Animated Icons and The Enchanted Treehouse sets in our LEGO round-up report, adding to the raft of models previously released to coincide with the year-long Disney100 anniversary celebrations.

Since then, we have seen several more 1^st June arrivals added to the LEGO website, including two unique models aimed at adult LEGO collectors. Last week also saw the release of an epic large LEGO set designed to coincide with the release of The Little Mermaid live-action remake later this month…

Villain Icons – 43227

This wonderfully strange and distinctive set should unlock a high dose of nostalgia for those who grew up in the 1990s, with two familiar replicas of the collectable Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty VHS box sets so many owned, along with with a VHS cassette tape replica from Sleeping Beauty.

Sitting alongside these are the storybook from Beauty And The Beast, the fateful poisoned apple from Snow White, Captain Hook’s pocket watch, and the playing cards from Alice In Wonderland. This exciting Disney memorabilia display also comes with four minifigure villains: Maleficient, the Queen in disguise, Gaston and Jafar in genie form.

This LEGO set certainly stands out from others with its distinct ‘bookend’ design. You can tell the designers had a lot of fun crafting the subtle references to so many films into one cohesive collection of Disney treasures. The Villain Icons model is understandably a special set for adults which we expect to achieve a high collectors value in future.

Disney Duos – 43226

These four pairs of iconic characters from Disney history remind us of the BrickHeadz style, with the blocky, bricky builds and large eyes on some of the models. BrickHeadz also often come in pairs and these figurines wouldn’t look out of place displayed alongside them.

The models include Lumiere and Cogsworth (Beauty And The Beast), Nemo and Squirt (Finding Nemo), Pua and Hei Hei (Moana), and Meeko and Percy (Pocahontas).

The inclusion of a stand with a Disney100 anniversary element increases the collectability of these brick-built figurines.

The Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell – 43225

This mammoth set presents the underwater world of Princess Ariel with references to both the upcoming The Little Mermaid live-action film and the animated classic. Alongside minifigures such as Karina, Indira, King Triton and Ursula, collectors can spot plenty of hidden references and details crammed into the clamshell, including the beloved Sebastien and Flounder.

Locations include Ariel’s treasure cave, Ursula’s hideout and Triton’s throne room. The set has a beautiful amount of detail, including swimming fish, a shipwreck and plenty of green seaweed and underwater plant life scattered around to create a myriad of tropical colours.
