New LEGO Releases – January 2024 Round-Up
VINTAGE CAMERAS, SPACE, MARVEL AND MORE – IT’S BEEN A BUSY MONTH FOR LEGO SET RELEASES
At the time of writing this article, December, Christmas (and most of early January) feels like a bit of a blur – we’re sure it does for you, too!
What with all the socialising, events, and a busy retail period for iDisplayit coupled with a very eventful time for new LEGO set releases, we didn’t always have as much time as we would have liked to look at a few of the new models releasing this month.
Let’s put that right today with a short round-up of some of the best LEGO sets releasing in January so you can ensure you don’t miss any gems.
Here’s our January 2024 LEGO buyers guide and top picks for the month –
IDEAS Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera 21345
One of the most anticipated LEGO sets released this month – read our thoughts on the vintage photography-inspired model in our comprehensive review. And don’t forget to grab our specially-sized display case with room for the film box and photographs.
Creator Retro Camera 31147
This one seemed to fly under the radar compared to the Polaroid. However, it is a no less funky piece of old-school camera machinery, with the added 3-in-1 feature, allowing the set to be reconfigured into a handheld video camera and a mini-TV.
Creator Space Astronaut 31152
Here’s another 3-in-1 set that can morph into a space dog or jet. We like the astronaut best and think this is the perfect model to decorate a bedroom shelf for AFOLs and KFOLs of any age who are interested in intergalactic space exploration.
March 1st also sees the release of three LEGO Technic Space sets – find out more in our preview article.
Japan Postcard 40713
The latest in the range of LEGO brick postcards presents the iconic Mount Fuji, surrounded by a cherry blossom tree, a red bridge, and a castle in the style of Himeji. This pleasant 2D-oriented diorama is built to be displayed against a wall and makes a picture-perfect addition to any interior.
Cherry Blossoms 40725
Continuing the Japan theme, these buildable cherry blossom tree twigs offer a beautiful way to usher in a new season and can be easily displayed inside a real plant vase.
Rocket & Baby Groot 76282
This month saw the release of the quintessential brick figurine of the canny Rocket Racoon, friend of Peter Quill and ally of the Guardians of the Galaxy. We love the detail on the model and have designed the above display case so you can make your Guardians of the Galaxy model an integral part of your superhero collection.
Mini Disney Ariel’s Castle 40708
This detailed mini building is ideal for classic Disney fans who want to showcase the mystical underwater kingdom seen in The Little Mermaid, complete with turrets, towers and domed roofs. We wanted to enhance the model even further, so we created a display case with a printed background of the deep blue ocean to exhibit it in.
Tropical Ukulele 31156
This beach-worthy instrument immediately made us think of the late Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, whose ukelele rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow remains one of the greatest musical covers of all time. A great choice for any fan of music who wants to brighten up their desk.
Flowers in Watering Can 31149
The ideal LEGO gift for gardening fans to add some colour to their greenhouse or empty windowpane shelf. The 3-in-1 set also transforms into a Wellington boot vase or two birds on a perch.
Family Reunion Celebration 80113
This LEGO Spring Festival set includes a large cast of minifigures and offers a richly detailed and colourful building decorated with plenty of traditional Chinese architectural features.
Andrea’s Modern Mansion 42639
LEGO Friends kicks off 2024 with one of the most epic sets ever made for the theme – a four-storey mansion built in the modern beach-side style seen in cities like Miami. Heartlake City offers a fantasy version of such places, and the model includes everything needed for the ultimate 'sunshine casa'.
Natural History Museum 10326
Read all about our thoughts on this spectacular modular city build in our preview article. This grand building houses plenty of exhibits and is full of colourful details and elements, heavily inspired by real-world locations such as London’s Natural History Museum and New York City’s American Museum of Natural History.
Megapolis City 5th Anniversary 80054
This zany city modular build includes a Ferris wheel, working lifts, and numerous stalls and shops, all recognisable from Monkie Kid City in the animated series. Of particular note is the stylish bonsai tree and towering pinnacle, with flowing flag drapery. Read our full preview of the set here.
