New Star Wars LEGO Sets Coming from A Galaxy Far, Far Away

ALL WINGS REPORT IN FOR THE UPDATED UCS X-WING AND RETURN OF THE JEDI DIORAMAS

New Star Wars LEGO Sets

It’s incredible to think it will soon be the 40th anniversary of The Return of the Jedi, the original trilogy’s concluding film. 1983’s stellar finale was released six years after A New Hope first hit cinema screens and conquered the galaxy, making the Star Wars saga 46 years old. That’s almost half a century!

Star Wars fans have had plenty to celebrate in recent years, with epic TV releases for The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, along with brilliantly devised games such as Jedi Fallen Order and a steady fleet of new LEGO set releases encompassing the entire franchise. Three new feature-length films were also recently announced at the recent Star Wars Celebration, which you can read about here.

Now, in celebration of Return of the Jedi’s 40th anniversary, LEGO has announced two detailed film diorama sets scheduled for release on May 1st. A new UCS X-Wing model is also on the way, set to hit hyperspace on the same day for VIP customers. Non-VIP customers will have to wait until May 4th (be with you!)

Star Wars UCS X-Wing 75355
UCS X-Wing Starfighter 75355

Soaring into the Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series is the latest updated version of the classic T-65 Rebel Alliance starfighter. This masterclass of ship-to-ship combat features heavily throughout the original and sequel trilogy, making it one of the most quintessential ships in the galaxy, piloted by legendary pilots such as Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles, and Poe Dameron, to name a few.

Ten years have passed since the last brick-built version of the ship hit shelves (2013’s 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter) and a whopping 23 years since the version before that (2000’s 7191 X-Wing Fighter). So while there may be other Star Wars ships we want to see in UCS form (Naboo Royal Starship, anyone?), this looks like a welcome addition to the collection.

What Has Changed on The Latest UCS X-Wing Starfighter?

The UCS X-Wing has an updated s-foil wing, engine design, and a new cockpit interior. In addition, the model is designed around the ship’s appearance in Return of the Jedi, making a nice departure for this display-worthy theme.

As a small but vital improvement, LEGO fans will no longer have to go through the tricky process of applying the sticker to the UCS info plaque, as the plaque comes as a pre-printed brick element. Hopefully, this is something LEGO will take forward with future sets.

Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama 75352

Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama 75352

We love a good diorama LEGO set here at iDisplayit. Recreating scenes from favourite movies is a great way to create an eye-catching display at home to add some excitement to your interiors while making a talking point for friends and family.

This Star Wars 40th-anniversary celebration release recreates the climactic confrontation between Luke Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine, and his servant Darth Vader in the Death Star II throne room. Thanks to the dynamic minifigures and brick elements included, fans can create different moments from the sequence, including the Emperor’s Sith lightning attack or Luke and Vader crossing lightsaber blades while the Emperor looks on.

We particularly like the stylistic porthole space viewing window and the revolving throne, which combine as a creative force to make this set stand out as the centrepiece of a Star Wars LEGO collection.

Endor Speeder Chase Diorama 75353

Endor Speeder Chase Diorama 75353

This immersive build replicates the memorable speeder chase on the forest moon of Endor, where Luke, Leia, Han Solo, and a group of Rebellion operatives attempt to disable the second Death Star’s shields.

The set features unique versions of Luke and Leia in their disguised uniforms and the iconic Imperial Scout Trooper they pursue. The all-important speeder bikes also come with transparent display elements, so you can position the vehicles in any pose you like. The lush trees also utilise new-for-May-2023 fern and foliage brick pieces.

LEGO Star Wars Dioramas on display collection

The Best Way to Display LEGO Star Wars Dioramas

Thanks to their similar, uniformly rectangular design, these Star Wars diorama sets are ideal for displaying horizontally on a flat surface such as a shelf, table, or counter. Of course, you can get creative with your displays, but we personally like to showcase the sets in the order each scene appeared in the trilogy.

Our see-through display cases are designed to fit each specific Star Wars diorama model in the range while keeping the sets dust-free and protected from damage such as accidental spills and knocks. You can view our products here.

Keep an eye out for the ultimate diorama display cases for the Return of the Jedi collection, arriving after release in May.
