Our Favourite LEGO Ideas Disney 100 Years of Fairytales Entries – Part Two

ENJOY SIX MORE METICULOUSLY CRAFTED MOCS BUILT BY DISNEY FANS

Disney 100 Years of Fairytales

In our previous blog, we discussed the latest LEGO Ideas fan competition currently running online, with AFOLs and MOC enthusiasts challenged to build a tribute to their favourite Disney memories using LEGO bricks and elements.

The expert view panel have now selected five entries for the crowd vote round, all in contention to win the grand prize on 1st September 2023. You can submit your own vote online by registering with an account and following the instructions on the competition page. You have until 20th July 2023 to vote, so don’t wait around!

We were overwhelmed by the brick-building talent on show in this competition and were surprised to see so many fantastic entries fail to make it through the previous round. With that in mind, here are six more of our favourite entries from the Disney 100 Years of Fairytales challenge that we think were worthy of inclusion…

The Disney Classics Library

The Disney Classics Library

This enchanting design from 10K Club Member BulldoozerBuilder presents three brick-built storybooks styled on fairytale classics from the Disney archive: Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. This extremely well-conceived idea reminds us of the VHS replicas from the recent Villain Icons 43227 set, though with even more detail. Each book opens out to reveal the introductions to each story, complete with LEGO Art-style imagery.

Beauty And The Beast: Playable Diorama

Beauty And The Beast: Playable Diorama

This magical diorama sprung from the imagination of legonano1, based on the “tale as old as time”, Beauty And The Beast. We particularly enjoyed how many of the castle’s supporting characters were snuck in using small LEGO elements, including Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs Potts, Chip and Fifi. The set recreates three iconic locations from the film: the grand staircase, library and ballroom, all instantly recognisable despite the small scale.

Robin Hood: Prince John’s Carriage Robbery

Robin Hood: Prince John’s Carriage Robbery

Here’s another diorama from VibrantWindra079, based on the 1973 animated medieval romp Robin Hood. In this scene, Robin ambushes the wicked Prince John as he travels through Sherwood Forest in a resplendent golden carriage. With plenty of fun details, such as the archery target and Sir Hiss hiding in a basket, this is a worthy diorama model to display alongside similar movie moments.

Prince Phillip Versus Maleficent

Prince Phillip Versus Maleficent

This is a highly-accomplished build from GoofySwan099, who manages to portray a movable, posable dragon-form Maleficent, with the creature’s blast breath represented using neatly balanced translucent yellow elements. This build perfectly captures the titanic battle from 1959’s Sleeping Beauty. You can feel the force of the spell just by looking at the Prince Phillip minifigure struggling to block the attack while leaning over the edge of the cliff.

Winnie The Pooh

Winnie The Pooh

This cute build from ianhou shows the lovable bear, Winnie the Pooh, digging into a honey pot in the Hundred Acre Wood. The chubby, charming character is recreated in entertaining detail, complete with his happy grin and favourite red top. The brick-built signpost adds a nice detail to the set, increasing the display potential.
