15 LEGO WINTER VILLAGE SETS HAVE BEEN RELEASED SINCE 2009 – BUT WHICH ARE THE BEST?

The Best LEGO Winter Village Sets

If there’s one thing to mark the arrival of winter and the seasonal countdown, it’s the release of the LEGO Winter Village set for the current year. These festive Icons and Creator Expert sets always delight and enchant, offering perfect display models equally coveted by kids and adults alike.

This year (2023) saw the arrival of the cute Alpine Lodge 10325, which offered collectors an idyllic snowy mountain ski guest house with plenty of surprises, such as a snowmobile dragging a freshly cut Christmas tree, an outhouse, and cosy fire-warmed interiors.

With fourteen years of Winter Village Sets to choose from, we’re getting Christmassy today by picking out our favourites from the range. Feel free to let us know your top picks in the comments or on social media!

If you can’t get enough of festive LEGO, then make sure you also check out our countdown of The Best Festive Christmas LEGO Sets outside of the Winter Village theme.

Winter Village Toy Shop 10199

Winter Village Toy Shop 10199

Release year – 2009

The first-ever Winter Village set remains one of the best, with a picturesque toy shop building that looks like something out of a Christmas movie set in the perfect Yuletide town. The model has a handy array of minifigures, with the Christmas tree and ladder being a stand-out extra. These, along with the snowy bench and vintage lamppost, make this set ideal for inclusion in any Christmas town diorama.

The set is now retired and increasing in value faster than other sets – snap it up on resale sites before it becomes unattainable. On the other hand, 2015’s LEGO 10249 reissue is very similar and less collectable, fetching a lower price online.

Winter Village Market

Winter Village Market

Release year – 2013

Heading out to Winter Wonderland or a similar European-style Christmas market is one of the best parts of the Christmas holiday. This LEGO set captures the best of these festive days out, with market stalls selling drinks, pies, pretzels, meats and sweet treats, and a colourful carousel which can easily be motorised. With nine LEGO Minifigure revellers included, this is a great value set for bulking out a LEGO city at Xmas.

Santa’s Workshop 10245

Santa’s Workshop 10245

Release year – 2014

This workshop model has everything you could need to create a fun Christmas Eve display for everyone to enjoy. Along with Santa’s sleigh and reindeer, the set includes a host of adorable elf helpers in minifigure form, along with Jolly Old Saint Nicholas himself and Mrs Claus. The building exterior includes Christmas lights, a sticker decal signpost, and a stunning clock beside the upper windows, and the set contains an inventive present-packing machine to go inside.

Winter Holiday Train 10254

Winter Holiday Train 10254

Release year – 2016

If you’re looking for the ultimate, brick-built Christmas toy train, this is it. The set can be motorised, ready to travel on as much track as you can lay down – perhaps around the base of the Christmas tree? The train has four carriages, carrying all manner of minifigures, colourful festive accessories and elements.

Winter Village Station 10259

Winter Village Station 10259

Release year – 2017

This station set makes the perfect accompaniment to the Winter Holiday Train. The model includes a level crossing and platform with a building, staff and passenger minifigures, and a funky festive bus decked out in yellow, white, and blue. We always loved the detail on this set, from the clock on the roof to the Christmas greenery wreaths placed along the platform.

Holiday Main Street

Holiday Main Street

Release year – 2022

Last year’s model of a city sidewalk dressed in Christmas decorations was a reindeer-roaring success, with six minifigures, two buildings, a lamppost, and a stylish tree constructed from smart LEGO elements. The stand-out feature of the set has to be the tram, which adds some vintage city-slickness to any display.

Winter Village Post Office

Winter Village Post Office

Release year – 2011

Father Christmas gets a lot of mail at this time of year – and here’s the North Pole post office to process it all before sending everything to the workshop! The festive red delivery van is our favourite part of this set, though the musicians’ gondola also adds some unexpected character to the model.
