The iDisplayit Elves Picked Their Favourite LEGO 2024 Releases
SEE WHAT BRICKS BUILT OUR YEAR
Here at iDisplayit, we work tirelessly to create bespoke cases for LEGO, but we do get a little downtime to enjoy the sets ourselves too. We have cast the Eye of Sauron back over the LEGO releases for 2024 and staff members have selected their favourite sets of the year.
STAFF SELECTION BOX
LEGO 10333 Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr
“This was a fun, modular build with loads of secret sections. Plus, once completed it looks fantastic.”
This epic 5,471-piece recreation of Middle-Earth’s Dark Tower is a sight to behold. Its dark and ominous presence creates a malevolent shadow over the smaller sets that have the misfortune to share its shelf!
LEGO 77072 Fortnite Peely Bone
“What’s not to love about this guy? Look at his little happy face; this set genuinely makes me smile every time I see it.”
Peely is an OG of Fortnite; seeing him in LEGO form is like a dream come true. LEGO 77072 Fortnite Peely Bone stands 14” tall and adds a touch of humour to any gaming shelf or fruit bowl. Who knew we needed to see a banana’s skeleton? But here it is in glorious technicolour!
LEGO 76328 Batman: The Classic TV Series Batmobile
“This invokes memories of childhood joy, eating cereal at the weekend whilst watching Batman’s escapades.”
A car this iconic deserves to be replicated with every detail intact, and LEGO 76328 has managed to execute the task brilliantly and flood us with nostalgia. The trunk opens to reveal the hidden Bat-Computer. The famous red Bat-Phone is located in front of the centre console, ready for Commissioner Gordon to call at any point. LEGO 76328 includes an information plaque that lists the Batmobile’s stats.
LEGO 40699 Retro Record Player
“It reminds me of the old Technic decks, and it comes in a pink box.”
This GWP is quite possibly one of the best that LEGO has released this year (clearly one of our staff thinks so!) as it has many realistic details. The buildable vinyl with detailed “label” is fantastic, and the nostalgic feeling of carefully lifting the needle to place it gently on the record is rekindled perfectly.
LEGO 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City
“The colours are so vibrant. The whole aesthetic is well executed, and the blimp spotlights and Bat Signal is really effective.”
Batman: The Animated Series aired 85 episodes between 1992 and 1995; LEGO 76271 successfully recreates many of the iconic locations seen in the show, some of which are revealed by removing panels. This brick-built Gotham City skyline measures a massive 30” wide and can be worked on by two builders simultaneously due to the duplicated instructions included.
LEGO 21349 IDEAS Tuxedo Cat
“He looks like a much loved and missed family pet.”
This fur-free feline is the ideal pet for those with allergies or no pet rules in their home. LEGO 21349 is a realistic-looking cat with a poseable head, ears, tail, and paws. This 12” tall mouser also features interchangeable eyes, so if he misbehaves, you can create a new feline friend!
LEGO 10341 ICONS NASA Artemis Space Launch System
“I have a deep interest in all things Space, and the LEGO Artemis looks outstanding, especially when displayed in one of our cases with a background.”
LEGO 10341 is an accurate brick-built replica of the NASA Space Launch System (SLS) rocket that launched in November 2022. The 3,601 pieces create a multistage rocket, two solid-fuel boosters, a highly detailed mobile launch tower, and an Orion capsule.
